How does Dr. Kloke enjoy her free time?
Dr. Kloke has earned eleven (11) International Game Fish Association (IGFA) Women’s World Records for Pacific Salmon (Coho Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, and Pink Salmon), Rainbow Trout, and Dolly Varden. These records are awarded to the single largest fish ever caught by IGFA standards, of a particular species on a particular line class or fly tippet, by any woman anywhere in the world.
Eight (8) of Dr. Kloke’s World Records were caught on spinning rod, and three (3) were caught on fly rod. All the World Records were caught self-guided on several different rivers on Kodiak Island, Alaska; the Kenai River in South Central Alaska; Big Creek in King Salmon, Alaska; the Kvichak River in Bristol Bay, Alaska; and the very remote, float plane accessible only Featherly Creek, Alaska – where the bears outnumber the people!
A few of Dr. Kloke’s most prized records include a 9 lb Coho (Silver) Salmon on 4# line and a 10 lb Coho on 6# line – both still stand as records since 2015 and 2016 respectively.
And the “one that got away” included a day in Key West trying to set a World Record for Yellow Tail Snapper on 2 lb test. The fish were there, all 5-6 lbs each. But after Dr. Kloke and her gang broke off 30 in a row on hair-thin line, they decided it was meant for another day!
Dr. Kloke also currently holds several Key West Fishing Tournament records including one for the largest African Pompano ever caught in the annual tournament. The record fish was caught in 2008.
When not traveling or chasing trophy fish, Dr. Kloke can be found tending to her backyard Kitchen Garden. Organic fruits and vegetables are grown, picked, cooked, pickled, or canned!
And Dr. Kloke’s life wouldn’t be complete without her trusted side kick and garden companion, Bailey.
